Norfolk based group Horses Brawl (Laura Cannell – fiddle & recorders and André Bosman – guitars & Indian harmonium) unearth fragments of medieval melodies and weave them together with elements of European folk music into mesmerizing and spellbinding new pieces. A thirst for adventure leads them to push boundaries using extended instrumental techniques and overlapping rhythms, exploring the space between folk, medieval and experimental music. Horses Brawl have performed widely throughout the UK at festivals and Arts Centres and have released three highly acclaimed albums (Wild Lament 2009, Dindirin 2007 and Horses Brawl 2005). They have been selected as editor's picks in The Guardian, Time Out and The Independent and have been recorded and broadcast live for BBC Radio 3's Late Junction, The Early Music Show and In Tune. Horses Brawl have been awarded two grants by The Arts Council of England and in 2008 were selected as Escalator Artists. They are releasing their fourth album in the spring of 2012. |
